Service of process - The delivery of a notice or any action or suit being instituted, or of any step or process therein, to the party to be affected thereby or his solicitor or other party having an interest in the subject matter of the suit, when the notice is served on the party personally, it is called personal service. If the party cannot be found, or keeps himself out of the way to avoid service of the process, the court, the court may order the service to be effected affixing a copy of the notice in some conspicuous place in the court house, and also upon same conspicuous part of the house where the defendant is know to have last resided; also, if the defendant cannot be found, and has no agent empowered to accept the service, the service may be made on any adult male member of the family of the defendant who is residing with him. This is called substituted service.
